lost everything

..on my computer.

I was installing a scanner, and then after restarting the computer it wouldn't go back into windows. So I found some instructions on the net on how to fix the problem and spent about 3 hours following them but they made it even worse! So now i have to reformat everything......

Can you log into windows still?

You might be able to use a file recover program to get all your work back.

uhm no i couldn't. i accidently deleted the 'system32' folder so nothing worked.

or you could buy another hard drive, and install everything there and then try to access the old hard drive.

but generally back up is a good idea, i use gmail drive extensively on important projects.
